Africa is the world’s poorest continent, and there are currently over 52 million orphans there. More than 6 million of those orphans are in South Africa.

Many rely on an older sibling or neighbors (referred to as Grannies) for support. The problem is there are many more orphans than there are caregivers, so a lot of these children are left to their own devices. Children are raising other children.

HIV/AIDS, hunger, poverty, ignorance, neglect, corruption, and global warming all conspire to prevent the success of these children and youths. We give them a helping hand to create a new and productive life.
Since 2005, the Orphans Relief Programs have been helping the most vulnerable among us get access to clean water, sanitation, food, healthcare, education, and shelter.
We’ve brought in equipment to find fresh water, drilled new wells, and taught them food production strategies. We’ve instituted a protocol to deliver medication to help prevent pregnant women from transmitting HIV/AIDS to their infant children. And we’re putting education programs and gender-specific latrines (with plumbing) and daycare centers into place at the schools for the first time ever.

The major cities have adequate infrastructure to deliver drinkable water to millions of people who have migrated from rural villages. However, supplies outside the cities are still in very short supply.

Between lack of funding, global warming, and the sheer volume of challenges being faced, helping these children has largely fallen to NGOs like ours.
